Scam 1: The DH Series: Digiman Vs Phishing Links: All about Phishing: Dos and Don'ts

Herb 36

Phishing is a form of cyber attack in which an attacker impersonates a trustworthy entity to trick the victim into revealing sensitive information such as passwords, credit card numbers, or other personal information.

Some key points to keep in mind about phishing include:

  1. Phishing is commonly carried out through emails, phone calls, text messages, or fake websites.

  2. The attacker's goal is to make the victim believe that they are communicating with a legitimate source, such as a bank, e-commerce website, or social media platform.

  3. Phishing can lead to serious consequences such as identity theft, financial loss, and damage to a company's reputation.

  4. To protect yourself from phishing, be cautious of unsolicited emails or messages, check the sender's email address and look for typos or odd language, and avoid clicking on suspicious links or downloading attachments.

  5. If you suspect that you have been the target of a phishing attack, change your password immediately and report the incident to the appropriate authorities.

Here are some dos and don'ts to help protect yourself from phishing:

Do's:

  1. Be cautious of unsolicited emails or messages, even if they appear to be from a trusted source.

  2. Verify the sender's email address and look for typos or odd language.

  3. Check for secure web addresses (HTTPS) when entering sensitive information online.

  4. Keep your software and security systems up-to-date.

  5. Use strong and unique passwords for different accounts.

Don'ts:

  1. Don't click on suspicious links or download attachments from unknown sources.

  2. Don't enter sensitive information on websites that are not secure (HTTP).

  3. Don't respond to emails or messages that ask for personal information.

  4. Don't use the same password for multiple accounts.

  5. Don't ignore warning signs, such as strange emails or pop-up messages.

Remember, if you suspect that you have been the target of a phishing attack, change your password immediately and report the incident to the appropriate authorities.
